WEEK 10
We have made it to the end of the first term, and we seem to have survived intact. The kids have worked really hard, and have set themselves up for a really great year. Congratulations, kids, you have earned your break. Have a terrific 2 weeks, and come back refreshed and ready for a busy second term! Oh, and we miss you too Hui Qi! Hopefully you are having a great time in Malaysia and are taking lots of photos to show us (and if you have taken them, you will be able to enter them in our school photo competition!) when you return.

Week 9
Well, water day was a roaring success- watch this space for photos- and we are just 9 short days away from Easter. With the Moutere Amazing Race next weekend though, there's no need to look to far ahead for some excitement! Bring it on!!

Week 8 already!
Well, we are fast approaching the end of the first term, despite the feeling that the term has really only just begun! No time to sit dormant though, as there is a lot to fit into the last couple of weeks. Parent-Teacher Interviews are coming up, but before that we have our first major School Fundraiser "The Moutere Amazing Race." If last year is anything to go by this will be an incredible day. I know I am looking forward to it, and hope to see lots of you there.
On Friday we have Water Day, which is a fun afternoon where the students get to have a bit of fun in the pool, with water pistols, and on a water slide. This is a great afternoon, and a fun way to farewell summer. As always, parents are welcome (it is relatively safe!!).

ONOMATOPOEIA.
We have been learning about interesting story starters in Room 3, and so we have done some work with onomatopoeia (where the sound made is the word that is written). There were some terrific story starters; the children did such a good job. Here is Jiawei's (which we are hoping to continue!) sentence...
"Roar! A t-rex sounded across the jurassic rain forest. Silence fell over the jungle floor."
I can hardly wait to see what we get next time!

Week 7!! Wow!
Well, we are well into the final countdown for 2011. The year seems to have gone so quickly! Before we sign off though for the year, I wanted to post the reading activities that the children did over the last couple of weeks. They were dioramas and 3D presentations of a scene or fact from one of their books. They largely did these completely independently, and had to problem solve ways to create the scenery. I think they look terrific. Well done team! Oh, and apologies to those who are not here...
